SUGGIA

Suggia is a fictionalized portrait of the cellist Guilhermina Suggia, the first woman to establish herself as a cello soloist on the international stage. The film begins in Porto, in the final years of her life, during the 1940s. From that time, fragments of memory emerge: her childhood as a prodigy, the period of her greatest public recognition, her decline. Between the demands she placed on herself and the limits of the milieu in which she moved, Suggia built a solitary and singular path.
